What to Pack for Winter in Palestine? Many foreigners are surprised about the climate in Hebron. The city is located in a hilly area almost 1000 meters above the sea level, so although it´s in the Middle East the weather can get very cold and windy. The houses don´t really have a proper heating system so staying inside can require even more clothing than moving outside. However, the sunny says can get hot during day time so be prepared to remove some layers.

    1. A warm autumn coat. To protect you from wind, cold and occasional rain.
    2. A woolen shirt. A very handy piece of clothing to keep you warm, especially when you sit around at the cold Excellence Center.
    3. Proper shoes for walking hills and dusty roads. The roads are not in good condition, on tp of which they are dusty and full of trash. The city is extremely hilly, so light sandals are not for this place.
    4. Boots that keep rain. When it rains in the city the streets turn into small rivers.
    5. Scarfs. Very handy to both cover yourself and keep warm.
    6. A fancy but warm dress. Even though winter is not a wedding season, you might still get an invitation to one. These events are a perfect occasion for the families o show off – you don´t want to feel underdressed with all that bling around you. As for a guy, make sure to bring a smart casual outfit with a blazer.

  • Loose jeans or trousers. Depending on the outfit skinny jeans can be seen as inappropriate.

  1. Money to buy clothes. The locals buy clothes somewhere too, right? In Hebron, you will find perfect attire for the weather that also matches with the local style and culture.
  2. Woolen socks. The stone floors of the houses are freezing cold. To make your mornings more pleasant you might want to bring a pair of woollen socks to jump into as you get out of the warmth of your blankets.
  3. Warm pyjamas. For the very reason that the houses are made of stode and they really don´t keep the cold outside.
  4. A mid-layer shirt. Something to have if the sun comes out.
