Volunteer in a Music and Art project in Palestine

We believe that our new Music and Art Volunteer program is a great opportunity for artists and experts in art/music related topics, where they will get to develop their own projects and courses for our Palestinian youth. You will be able to carry on a great variety of activities suitable for every level of experience and education. You will decide what activities to develop according to your own interests and skills.

Brief information about the program

Our Arts and Music program in Palestine is ideal for people who want to put their music skills in practice and share their talents with our young men and women. This is an especially good place for those interested in sharing their knowledge and experience of music through workshops and lectures, and also for those who want to learn more about the music industry in Palestine.

Location of the Project:  Hebron, Palestine

Project length:  From 1 week – 8 weeks

Arrival Airport:  Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv, Israel)

Volunteer Work:  Organize workshops, activities and courses in music or arts for Palestinian school and university students as well as community members

Age:  18 – 70

Number of Volunteers:  Up to 4 international volunteers

When you arrive to the Center in Hebron, Palestine

Your experience here at the center will start with an “orientation week”, where you will be given Arabic classes along with classes on Palestinian culture and society. In order for you to acclimate to life in Hebron as much as possible, we will provide you with accommodation with a Palestinian host family or a room at the Excellence Center dorm. After this orientation week, you will develop classes, activities and workshops schedule and syllabus, and conduct research on the different NGOs or businesses that may be involved as part of your course. We are very flexible in class material, and you will be free to choose what activities you would like to implement during the period of volunteering

Which kind of activities you can organize during the volunteering period?

You can freely choose among a vast range of activities to develop in your own syllabus, such as:

• Class lectures on some of the following topics:
  • International music
  • The music industry in Palestine
  • The music industry in your country
  • Art critique
  • Organization of exhibitions
  • History of art
  • History of music
  • Sound systems
  • Copyright policy´
• Introduction to famous music and arts school in the world: the importance of studying abroad
• Visiting Palestinian ateliers, such as the (RAMALLAH ONE)
• Inviting visiting speakers (artists within Hebron and within Palestine)
• Art class (sculpture, painting, drawing)
• Design classes (interior design, web design and so on)
• Music class
• Visiting a radio station
• Ending the course with a festival (music and art exhibition)

Typical day at the Excellence Center

The schedule of our volunteers here at the Excellence Center is very flexible, though it is subject to change from week to week. Generally, you will be working five days a week from 9am until 5pm on Saturday to Thursday, with two days off: Friday, and another day of your choice. The day will start with breakfast at the Center together with the whole excellence staff. In addition to teaching classes, your daily schedule will include Arabic classes, planning for the workshops and activities you will teach, and visiting famous sites in Hebron.

By sharing your knowledge and passion in arts and music, and in developing your students’ interests in the arts, you will contribute greatly to the lives of Hebronite youth, as well as gaining invaluable experience and connections to music and art here in Palestine.

Associated Fees

Since the Excellence Center does not receive any funds from any governmental or non-governmental organizations, the Excellence Center charges a fee of 695$ a month or 230$ a week.

The program fees include: pre-departure support, accommodations, breakfast, full coordination while volunteering in Palestine, 3 hours per week of Arabic lessons for each week you volunteer, and some visits to different sites in the city of Hebron.

No worries, you’ve come to the right place!

You will easily meet many Palestinian university and school students as well as community members with a variety of interests. Especially in Hebron, Palestinian people love to meet new people from different cultures and exchange ideas and experiences.

Moreover, the Excellence Center hosts many international visitors from all over the world who will be studying, volunteering, visiting or interning at center. Of course, you will engage with them in some educational and community activities that the Center organizes.

Everyone at the Excellence Center – Palestinian students, international visitors, and staff – are like one family and there are always activities to do together. Hebron is a good place for international visitors to stay at and offers a great social atmosphere

Eligibility for Volunteer in a Music and Art project in Palestine

People who are between 18 – 70 years old are eligible to participate in the Technology Volunteer in Palestine Program. All nationalities and majors are welcome! You do not have to have any degree to participate in this program.

When “Volunteer in a Music and Art project in Palestine” takes place

The Excellence Center is looking for international volunteers year-round. Volunteers decide when they would like to start and Excellence Center organizes so. We are very flexible when it comes to starting and ending dates. Participants freely choose their volunteer period.

Which Airport Should I Start Checking for Flights to Palestine?

The easiest way to get to the Excellence Center in Hebron, Palestine is to fly to Tel Aviv Airport (Israel). It takes about two and half hours from the airport to the Excellence Center in Hebron via shared Taxi.

You can also fly to Amman, Jordan and then cross to Palestine, but it takes more time and is more expensive.

Visa to Palestine 

Upon your arrival at Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv Airport), Israel, you will be granted a tourist visa valid for 90 days. There is no need to obtain a visa ahead of time.
