Meet Taru from Finland who is Teaching English in Palestine”I am participating in the Teach English Study Arabic program with the Excellence center in Palestine. I liked the sound of this program the most because I will be able to interact with people in many languages.
I chose Palestine because coming here correlates well with my studies. I was able to choose the perfect timing for myself, which is a possibility not offered by many other programs. My major in university is cultural history, both of which Palestine has plenty of. I thought it would be important to familiarize myself with the area of history I am interested in.
During my stay, I will mostly be teaching English. My goal is to help even one person improve their English, or make someone excited about learning more languages. I want to engage with the Excellence center community, hopefully, I will soon know enough Arabic to do that in their native language as well. I hope to also help with everyday activities that may arise in the center.
I hope to be a good teacher to everyone, and make sure they get the best possible learning experience. I hope I can help make learning an exciting prospect for all students. I would like to contribute to a nice working environment for everyone here as well. Whatever little thing I can do to help, I would be happy to take part.
This experience will benefit my studies a lot. I hope to become fluent in Arabic one day, and I think this is a great way to start. This is a great work experience for someone in my field, especially since internship opportunities like this don’t exist in Finland.
My biggest goal is to just make a difference for one person. If one person here benefits from my presence, I consider that a great victory. I am also hopeful to help with the Excellence Centers work in general, and bring awareness to programs such as this in Palestine, for more people to experience this.”
