First Impressions of Palestine: Since I have spent my last summer in Amman, Jordan, I was expecting Hebron to be very similar. In the two days I have been in Palestine, I have been surprised in the most positive way. Amidst the warm weather, Hebron is surrounded by hills and trees, and a nice breeze is always flowing around. I was also quite happy to notice the peaceful atmosphere of the city (although this might have to do with Ramadan), the sense of security and the incredible respect people seem to have for each other.
This is the first impression that I have had of Hebron. It is quite a positive one, and I am amazed not only to feel happy and safe here but to realize that the residents of the city seem to feel the same way too, although they are surrounded by and under the watch of Israeli authorities. As much as I hope that my first, good, impression of Hebron and of Palestine will persist, I am looking forward to getting to know this city and region in all of its angles and to hear about and experience the Palestinian’s stories and lives.
