8 Ways to help the people of Palestine: There are many ways to help people in Palestine especially the one who live in the West Bank and Gaza. This is the reason why many people who want to help turn their attention to Palestine, what is happening there and the need to help Palestinian people. For those interested in how to help people in Palestine, this article will try to provide a place to start. Here you may find the best ways to help Palestinian people:

1). Donate to a charity helping Palestine

The easiest way to help Palestinians is simply to find a relevant charity that helps Palestinians, either living as refugees in a foreign country or one that helps Palestinians living in Palestine and donate either an ongoing monthly sum or one lump sum. This can be satisfying, if you have chosen the charity well, knowing that your money has gone towards a good cause.

2). House a Palestinian refugee

This one can be a big commitment in terms of time and expense, but it is one of the most rewarding things on the list. Many refugees find it difficult to get a job and start a new life in a new country without an address, even if they speak perfect English, so this can go a long way to setting a refugee on the right path in a new country.

3). Teach Palestinian refugees English (or another language)

Many Palestinians will come to a new country with some English ability, but it is rarer for them to be ready for the workforce when they arrive in a new country immediately.

English teaching is so vital for them, especially free tuition, as they will often have come to a new country without much in terms of money or resources. If you live in a country where English is not the first language, it is still very valuable to teach them the native language so that they can integrate into the host culture more quickly.

4). Work as a legal advocate for Palestinian refugees

If you have a background in law, then this can be a really valuable service for Palestinian refugees, especially those seeking asylum status on entering a new country.

Documentation is not always easily accessible, especially if it is in physical rather than electronic format, so many refugees need legal representation and advice while they wait on the outcome of this uncertain process.

5). Attend solidarity marches and events in your home country

Unfortunately, the issue of the Palestinian case has fallen down the international policy agenda, with events in Iran, Yemen, Syria and elsewhere overshadowing the long running Occupation and conflict in Palestine.

Solidarity marches have two purposes: firstly they remind decision makers that this is an issue that all people care greatly about, and it also shows the people of Palestine that they are supported, even if this is not always in evidence from the actions of governments worldwide.

6). Write articles raising awareness about the situation in Palestine

This runs to the same point as number 5, but with social media burgeoning in influence and reach, this can be a really good way to make the message heard further.

A good article can be liked, shared, retweeted etc. so that it ends up being seen by a lot more than you friendship network. You can publish these articles on medium.com and then use social media to ensure it gets seen by as many people as possible.

7). Volunteer in Palestine

This option of course requires a lot more of an investment in terms of time and money, but the chance to see the outcome of your work helping to develop communities first hand is not one to miss.

Aside from the chance to volunteer and help Palestinians in Palestine, it’s a great opportunity to develop Arabic skills, build your CV and make some amazing new lifelong friends from both Palestine and the international community that works there.

8). Volunteer with Refugees in the West Bank

To that end, we recommend volunteering with refugees in the West Bank with us here at the Excellence Center in Hebron, the West Bank to make a real difference in the lives of ordinary Palestinians. Hebron is subject to Occupation with 20% of the city claimed by the Israelis, leading to deprivations and hardships for the Palestinians in the Old City living close to the checkpoints and the settlers.

The Excellence Center channels volunteers to where they are most needed – in Hebron itself, in the surrounding villages in the countryside and the nearby Fawwar refugee camp to help the most vulnerable in Palestinian society.
