On Wednesday February 11th Excellence Center instructor Ibrahim Abu Eishah led his Starter English class in a number of activities designed to improve their language proficiency. The class was composed of about 15 students and the day’s activities mainly focused on building up their vocabulary through engaging games.
The central game for that day was Hangman, a popular activity in which students attempt to guess vocabulary words of a certain number of letters, with incorrect guesses adding up so that the students can potentially lose. Eishah’s class did very well, guessing the majority of the words while reinforcing their vocabulary knowledge.
The activity illustrated the benefits of encouraging students to participate in a hands on, energetic manner, rather than passively reading from a textbook. It was great fun for everyone involved!
