Future Palestinian Leaders Programme 2015 (Volunteer in Hebron, Palestine)

The Future Leaders Program (FLP) is organised by the Excellence Center in collaboration with community organizations in Hebron, Palestine. FLP is focusing on villages in Hebron area located in the south of the Occupied Palestinian Territories. The program’s main goal is to give members of different communities in these villages opportunities to develop their English speaking skills .Please click here to watch a short film about the Future Leaders program 2014f1

The Excellence Center invites international volunteers to come to Palestine to help program participants to develop thier English skills. As a volunteer, you will work with school and university students, as well as community members.f2

The FLP program is not only educational in its aims to develop the English skills of the Hebron community, but it is also a pursuit in cultural exchange. International volunteers will stay with a Palestinian family while engaging in community and cultural activities. While facilitating English language skills of Palestinian learners, volunteers will learn about the ongoing political conflict and live the daily life of Palestinian people.f3

When it take place

The Excellence Center seeks volunteers who are willing to work in the villages surrounding the city of Hebron, as well as working at the Excellence Center main office in Hebron. The program is open and organizes year-round.f5

Who can apply

FLP is open to all those applicants who would like to help Palestinians improve their English speaking skills. You do not have to posses a degree in English. All educational majors and nationalities are welcome to apply.

FLP volunteer responsibilities: 

–     Teach conversational English classes in surrounding villages of Hebron and in the Hebron Excellence Center;

–     Organize group activities for students of English at the Center;

–     Help with administrative tasks, such as writing reports or press releases and similar;

–     Organize workshops involving different themes, including how to write resumes, cover letters and conduct job interviews.f6

What you get from the Excellence Center as a FLP volunteer:

–     Staff support during your time in Palestine;

–     Live with a Palestinian host family (based on availability);

–     Three (3) hours of conversational Arabic with Arabic book for conversational Arabic;

–     Visits in the city of Hebron, such as the Old City, the Ibrahimi Mosque (burial site of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and wives (except Rachel)), some local universities, among other sites;

–     Some meals as arranged;

–     Immersion into Palestinian culture and politics;

—   Meet Palestinian university, school students and community members

—   Teaching Materials: Excellence Center provides you with all teaching books and materials, but it is your responsibility to plan and prepare your classes, including class syllabi for your course and lesson plans;f4

Associated Fees for FLP

Excellence Center charges a fee of $600.00. The program fees include:  pre-departure support, accommodation, some meals as arranged, full coordination while interning in Palestine, and some visits to different sites in the city of Hebron.

Eligibility for FLP

People who are between 18 – 70 years old are eligible to participate in the Future Leaders Program.

The FLP Duration

Excellence Center accepts applications year round from applicants who can work with our institution for 1 to 3 months.

Which Airport Should I Start Checking for Flights to Palestine?

The easiest way to get to the Excellence Center in Hebron, Palestine is to fly to Tel Aviv Airport (Israel). It takes about two and half hours from the airport to the Excellence Center in Hebron via shared Taxi.

You can also fly to Amman, Jordan and then cross to Palestine, but it takes more time and is more expensive.

Travelling to Palestine

Excellence Center will organize calls with you via Skype, write invitation letters, send travel instructions, and give you advice on different topics related to your travels.
