Hebron is home to a rich educational tradition and, along with it, three universities: Hebron University, Palestine Polytechnic University and Al-Quds Open University – Hebron branch. Each of these institutions contributes to the development of Hebron society locally, as well as the furtherance of Palestinian education and advancement internationally. All three offer unique strengths in educating young men and women. And the Excellence Center works with each to develop language programs, volunteer placement and community relations.

1. Hebron University. Founded in 1971, Hebron University is the oldest of the three universities in the city. It has a student body population of 11,000 and features nine undergraduate colleges including Arts, Islamic Law (Al-Shari`a), Science & Technology, Agriculture, Education, Finance & Management, Nursing, Pharmacy & Law and Political Science. 

Hebron University also offers a Museum on campus as well as a Radio Alam, a 24/7 broadcast at 96.1 FM featuring educational messages, current affairs shows and other useful programming.

Since 2011, the Excellence Center has partnered with Hebron University to offer classes and workshops in Language Education and Successful Skills training. It has specialized in promoting conversational skills though it’s staff of international volunteers. And in return, Hebron University has provided the highest number of student volunteers to the Excellence Center for Arabic training to its visiting international team.

2. Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) was founded in 1978 and features five undergraduate colleges for Engineering, Information Technology/Computer Engineering, Applied Science, Administrative Science & Informatics and Applied Professions. PPU’s student body totals over 6,000, and it dedicates particular attention to its relationship with the local community.

PPU was the first University that the Excellence Center partnered with back in 2011, and to this day it features the most EC language instruction classes of the three universities. In addition to such coursework, The Excellence Center works with PPU to provide further skills training on subjects such as Interview Skills & Presentation, CV Editing and Job Resource Review.

3. Al-Quds Open University – Hebron Branch,  was established with the larger institution’s founding in 1991. The Hebron branch is one of 19 locations and offers undergraduate degrees in Technology & Applied Sciences, Agriculture, Social & Family Development, Administrative & Economic Sciences, Media, Arts and Education. As an open educational institution, Al-Quds Open U. has minimal entry requirements, and specializes in distance education.

The Excellence Center has partnered with Al-Quds Open University to provide the above mentioned language training. Programs have also included the English Club and 60 Minutes in English to further advance the needed practical conversational skills of its students. 

The University presence in Hebron is a strong part of the identity of the city. Students take pride in their education at these institutions and are open to progressive forms of learning and interaction. The Excellence Center as forged a strong partnership with each of these institutions to promote language, community, collective enterprise and civic pride. The energy of the students is a strong representation of the best the city has to offer, and the Excellence Center works to showcase and further this strength.
