These summer internship programs combine Arabic language focus with a full learning, immersion and engagement in Palestinian culture, politics and history. It includes visits to Bedouin areas (Susiya), Palestinian refugee camps, local villages and community centers.

The program is suitable for interns over the age of 18 with an ability to communicate in English. However, the Excellence Center does not expect Intern to be proficient in Arabic, as volunteers will be given Arabic lessons through their programme of choice as well as plenty of opportunities to practice in an authentic and safe setting. 

Our internationally recognised summer internship programs can range from 1 week -3 months. You will have the opportunity to gain confidence and skills,  learn about the Palestinian refugees, human right situations, Palestinian law and legal system

Where in Palestine? 

The Excellence Center in Palestine for Education and Training Services was established in June 2011 to provide educational, cultural, social and community services to its diverse group of international students, interns and volunteers, as well as to Palestinian children, refugees, youth, women and community members in Hebron, West Bank.

The center is located in the heart of Hebron, West Bank, Palestine, on Ein Sarah Street, next to Al Hussein Mosque.This area is  under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority. The Excellence Center’s centralized location makes it easy to access for international and Palestinian students alike.  Hebron’s city center is in close proximity, so it is very convenient to visit municipal and educational organizations as well as restaurants, supermarkets, banks, gym, shops, NGOs, cafes, mosques, city center, and much more. 

The Excellence Center offers volunteer and internship programs which mainly focus on the topics of English instruction, human rights, women rights, Palestinian refugees, Palestinian culture and politics, Palestinian laws and legal system, Palestinian children and youth. 

Our internship programs are designed to make an impact on the Palestinian community and aim to make a long-term difference in international and Palestinian participants’ lives.

Internship in Palestine 1-3 months

The Internship in Palestine summer program will allow internationals to integrate with the Palestinian society, learn about human rights, refugee situations and politics in Hebron. Visits are organized for interns to different institutions (including both Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and governmental organizations), factories, and refugee camps in Hebron, West Bank, Palestine.

Interns are able to experience firsthand daily life in Palestine. This exciting and enlightening experience is delivered through a number of internships at the Center. Examples of internship programs are shown below:

Teach English and study Arabic (2-3 months)

The Teach English and Study Arabic in Palestine summer project provides you with the opportunity to live in Hebron, Palestine, meet a lot of people, help Palestinian refugees, volunteer to teach English to Palestinians, and study Levantine Arabic during the internship program.

Teach for Palestine program

A teaching summer internship program designed for graduate English students and certified English teachers. It enables them to share their pedagogical expertise with local inhabitants of Hebron, Palestinian children, youth and Palestinian refugees in the surrounding area.

This summer internship program is ideal for students and scholars of law, social sciences, academics, human rights, and anyone who is interested in the Palestinian legal systems operating in the West Bank, Palestine. Interns can join our family from 1-12 weeks, year-round. The Palestinian Laws program aims to provide a full understanding of legislations applying to the West Bank and Gaza.

During the internship programs, interns will visit local Palestinian lawyers, law faculties, courts, human rights organizations, legal religious institutions as well as legal clinics to witness the enactment of laws, decision making processes, court rulings, legal negotiations, mediations and the variety of social spaces they concern.

Engage in Palestine’s internship in Palestinian Law and Legal Practices is designed to create dialogue between participants and Palestinian legal experts, as well as introduce participants to one of the most complex legal systems offering them an opportunity to learn about Palestinian Law, Humanitarian Law, and the issues surrounding Palestine and Israel. 

The Palestine and Israel in Context internship program

The Palestine and Israel in Context summer internship program is for students at the undergraduate and graduate level, professionals, retirees and anybody interested in the political history and present of Palestine and Israel. This internship program targets students of the humanities and social sciences, who are looking for ways to better understand the Israeli/Palestinian first hand. By taking part in this program, students of the humanities and social sciences will be able to better understand and grasp the effects of the conflict first hand, and witness the genuine opinions of everyday people apart from political headlines. We welcome all majors such as political sciences, international relations, non-profit management, as well as other disciplines of the humanities’ department.

Further, the Palestine and Israel in Context internship program is ideal for individuals studying political sciences, Middle Eastern studies, Palestine and Israel, Arabic studies and Islamic studies and are looking to frame that experience within a cultural context. Interns will receive the opportunity to explore the occupation in the West Bank as well as meet Palestinian civilians, local actors and families who are subject to the Israeli military law.

Interns will be provided with an Arabic Course tailored to the intern’s individual level (three hours per week). Every-day Arabic learners will be able to practice their Arabic skills when talking with locals, taking public transportation, ordering from a restaurant, etc. due to the immersive nature of  their surroundings, participants have plenty of chances to enhance their Arabic skills. Volunteer in Human Rights Program in Palestine

The Human Rights Volunteer Internship Program at the Excellence Centre in the city of Hebron, Palestine is designed to introduce the subject of Palestinian human rights in an environment that will help you grow both personally and professionally, alongside giving you the opportunity to study and practice Ammiya (Palestinian Arabic).

Volunteer with Palestinian Refugees in the West Bank

This summer internship program is for undergraduate and graduate students, professionals, employees of human rights organizations, retirees and anyone interested in volunteering with Palestinian refugees in the West Bank – there are a plethora of ways to do this.

First and foremost is working with children in Palestinian refugee camps. Volunteers will have the chance to stay with a Palestinian host family, study colloquial Arabic, live the Palestinian daily life and experience the Palestinian culture and politics.

The Women’s Rights in Palestine volunteer program

The Women’s Rights in Palestine volunteer program provides internationals with the opportunity to visit Palestine and to gain insights into Women’s rights in the West Bank, specifically in the city of Hebron where the Center is situated.

Participants of the volunteer project will be provided with many opportunities to meet many Palestinian women, visit women’s rights organizations in Hebron, West Bank, and engage in educational and cultural activities during their time in Palestine.
