Reasons to Visit the Excellence Center in Summer 2018: As opposed to any other time of the year, why come to the Excellence Center in the summer? If you are among those who are debating how to spend your summer months, then we would like to share with you several reasons why visiting the Excellence Center should be on your list of options.
One reason to visit the Excellence Center in the summer is because of the number of people you will meet. Any time of year, travelers will of course meet countless Palestinians during their stay in Hebron and be able to develop friendships with locals. However, in the summer, since schools will be on summer break, travelers will have even more opportunities to spend time with local Palestinians, especially students. Perhaps some of the students that you will see coming in and out of the Excellence Center will invite you to get ice cream or invite you into their homes for dinner after class. If you are a people person and enjoy diving into new cultures, then you will appreciate the opportunities to meet locals and build friendships during a summer spent in Palestine.
Most of our international volunteers, Arabic students, and interns visit the Excellence Center in the summer as well. That means that there will always be other internationals to talk with, spend time with, and travel throughout Palestine with. Individuals from all over the world come to volunteer, study Arabic, and intern with us, so the Excellence Center becomes a beautiful blend of cultures in the summer. During your stay in Hebron, you will experience more than immersion into Palestinian culture. In the summer, you will also be able to learn from other internationals about their home cultures and customs.
What’s more is that the Excellence Center organizes summer activities for our international volunteers, interns, and Arabic students to participate in. These activities include going to sites in and around Hebron. Within Hebron, we take internationals to visit the Old City and various factories such as a glass blowing factory, kufiyah factory, and camel sandal factory. Trips are also organized to Bethlehem where internationals can visit the Church of the Nativity, the Old City, and the separation wall, as well as any other spots our volunteers might we interested in.
Other weekly trips may include going to the Dead Sea, Ramallah, Jerusalem, or Tel Aviv. Every week there are new places to visit. If you prefer traveling in groups instead of alone, then the summer trips organized by the Excellence Center will be the place for you. We enjoy showing international around our city and our homeland and would be glad to organize trips to other parts of the West Bank that you are interested in seeing.
With so many people to meet and so many famous sites to see, a summer in Palestine is nothing short of eventful. If you have further questions about the Excellence Center and our programs offered in the summer, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
