Money, Currency Exchanges, and Expenses in Hebron, Palestine: To exchange money in Hebron, Palestine is very easy, as there are several money-changing places on the main street of Ein Sara. For USD, the exchangers do not make a commission off of your exchange. It is more likely that you will need to find an ATM rather than exchange large amounts of foreign currency. When using ATMs in Hebron you must ask around to determine if the currency that will be dispensed will be in Jordanian Dinars.
This depends on the bank, though it can be hard to determine which currency the ATM will give if the it is not in front of its home bank. In the supermarket Bravo (again on Ein Sara) there are several ATMs that will accept any card and will dispense in New Israeli Shekels. As far as the cost of living here, it is very low.
To quote a fellow volunteer here “For hardly any money you can eat quite well and for a fair budget you can eat like a monarch.” There are plenty of shops, grocery stores, and merchants all over the city (there are plenty within a brief walk from either Excellence Center or form the house where the volunteers stay) where you can find whatever you need during your stay. Do not be afraid to barter! You can oftentimes save a bit of money on souvenirs (and plenty of other items) by negotiating for a lower price.
