Our volunteer programs in the West Bank are designed for anyone showing an enthusiasm for their chosen area of work. Years of university training are not required; prior experience of volunteering and working in the given field is, however, greatly appreciated. Volunteers in the West Bank, Palestine are selected on the basis of their being considered a good fit for the Centre; a welcoming, friendly manner, a positive mindset, and an eagerness to learn are all highly desirable traits. Our programs do offer the possibility of gaining university credits, as certified by the Ministry of Education.

All volunteering programs at the Excellence Centre are very flexible in structure, running between 1-12 weeks, depending on each volunteer’s requirements. All our programs are run in English; no Arabic language knowledge is required. Volunteers should have a good grasp of English language. However, no formal qualification is required and native speaking standard is not required. Volunteers to all our programs must be 18+ years old, unless otherwise specified.

Volunteer as English Language Teacher & Study Arabic in Palestine 

This volunteering program in our base at the Excellence Centre in Hebron, West Bank is designed for anyone seeking experience as an English Language teacher. Lessons will vary between small and large classes with both children and adults, and mainly focus on simply improving conversational English of the students. As a volunteer you will have the freedom to experiment with different methods of teaching and topics of learning, whilst also receiving the support of colleagues in the centre. A solid understanding of the English language and it’s grammatical components is naturally desirable, but, as a volunteer, TEFL and English language qualifications are not required. 

This opportunity is designed to allow you to engage fully with the Palestinian culture, forge strong relationships, and challenge yourself. As a volunteer in Palestine, you will be making important contributions to the Palestinian community Hebron. While embracing a new lifestyle, you will also be meeting plenty of new people, learning a new language, and working alongside the local Palestinians and refugees in and around Hebron, West Bank. 

Alongside teaching English, volunteers will receive 3 hours of Arabic courses a week (12 hours a month) with one of our experienced Palestinian teachers. Additionally, you will have plenty of chances to meet many people in Palestine, learn and practice your Arabic skills. Volunteers of this program are invited into local Hebron, West Bank schools in order to gain knowledge and first hand experience of their country’s educational system.

In this volunteering program aims to bridge the cultural gap between the school children in Hebron, West Bank and the international volunteers who come to the Center, in order to allow the students to become familiar with foreign nationals while also allowing you as a volunteer to experience the Palestinian school system and its students. Since the Excellence Center opened in 2011, we’ve worked very hard to maintain our high standards in English language teaching, which we have done thanks to our numerous international volunteers. However, due to increasing demand for classes at the Center, we decided to start a new series of programs, among which our Sports and Sport Culture in Palestine program. The aim of this program in particular is to provide exercise for students of the centre, in order to facilitate their learning, whilst also sharing knowledge and expertise around sport, health and fitness.

This program will be a serious opportunity for you to boost your resume by working with Palestinian youth and by developing your own project and activities centered around raising awareness about sports-related topics such as nutrition, proper training techniques, etc. It will be a unique chance to engage with our Palestinian youth and to enhance your skills by real on-field experience. We believe the opportunity is ideal for those with a strong interest and/or formation in sports related fields who want to develop their own activities to share with the Palestinian youth their knowledge and passion. 

Part of this program will involve organizing workshops and summer camps about different topics and themes, such as:

Volunteer in Human Rights Program in Palestine

The Excellence Center is very proud to introduce its new Human Rights Volunteer program in Hebron, Palestine. We welcome any student or professional with relevant work, volunteer, or study experience in this field.

During the program, you will receive information about the human rights situation specifically in Hebron, West Bank and Palestine in general. The human rights program aims to offer presentations, discussions, visits, alongside meetings with Palestinians working to defend human rights in Palestine.

Volunteers in the Human Rights Program will receive many benefits which include the following:

  • Orientation about Hebron and Palestinian culture
  • Arabic language course (12 hours a month or three hours a week)
  • Visits to Human rights organizations in Palestine
  • Meetings with Human Rights’ activists, non-governmental organizations, Human rights workers, law teachers, and students
  • Visits to different sites in the city of Hebron
  • Travel to historical locations and nearby cities including Jerusalem, Jericho, Ramallah, Nablus and Bethlehem (on your own or with fellow volunteers)

As a volunteer in our Human Rights Program, you will work cooperatively with organizations in Hebron and in the surrounding areas to provide workshops to students on the subject of human rights. This will also provide you with great experience and involvement in the various human rights organizations here in Palestine. This will strengthen both your resume and your professional network.

As a Human Rights Volunteer, this program will allow you to get to know the human rights situation in the West Bank. To do this, you will participate in a lot of human rights activities, visit many non-governmental and government human rights organizations in Hebron.

Volunteer in Women’s Rights Program in Palestine

The Women’s Rights Program in Palestine provides people with the opportunity to visit Palestine and to gain insights into Women’s rights specifically in Hebron and the West Bank in general. Participants will be provided with many opportunities to meet many Palestinian women, visit women organizations in Hebron, and engage in educational and cultural activities during their time in Palestine.

Our Women Rights Volunteer in Palestine program will enable you to get awareness about gender equality in one of the most conservative cities in Palestine. Furthermore, you will study Arabic and meet many people including internationals and experience Palestinian daily life in the city of Hebron.

During their time in Palestine, international volunteers will visit many womens organizations in order to know more about their work in the area, seek future cooperation and obtain more information about the situations of women’s rights specifically in Hebron and Palestine in general. We do ask that volunteers are 21+ years of age for this program

As well as holding talks for Palestinian girls and women to raise awareness about their rights and their potentialities this course also offers opportunities to hold workshops to Palestinian boys and men about gender equality. There will be many opportunities to conduct workshops about the roles and depictions of women in conventional and social media.

Volunteer with Palestinian Children

Volunteer with Palestinian Children: This volunteer with children in Palestine program is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in working with children in a volunteer capacity, and/or internships with Palestinian children. In addition, those interested in childhood education will benefit from volunteering with children in Palestine.

The reason for this being because the Palestinian school system, in all academic fields, requires assistance because of scarce learning and academic resources in the West Bank. Program participants will also have the opportunity to volunteer with children in Palestinian refugee camps, for it is often these camps that lack the necessary educational resources. Subsequently, volunteers are welcomed to come to Palestine and teach children various subjects and skills. Whether it be in art, mathematics, the English language, song writing, health, or environmental science, the sky is the limit!

Volunteers upon arriving in Palestine will have the opportunity to design and create their own workshops geared toward children. These workshops will make up the majority of volunteers’ workload here in Palestine.

This program is for anyone interested in volunteering with refugees in the West Bank. There are a plethora of ways to do this; first and foremost, working with children in Palestinian refugee camps. The schools in these camps lack many of the basic resources to fulfill their students’ educational needs. The placement also presents the opportunity to work with Palestinian law firms, international NGOs, and charity organizations to advocate for the rights of refugees. The Excellence Center in Palestine offers our Palestinian Law and Lawyers program to international participants leaning toward a career in law and wishing to gain experience as well as to law and pre-law students. We further welcome those interested in diplomacy, as this program provides a great opportunity to try their hand at navigating delicate circumstances in a high-stake environment.
