Last week, the Excellence Center organized a CV and cover letter writing workshop for students at Palestine Polytechnic University. The session was led by volunteers Jan from Belgium and Hania from The Netherlands who are both participating in the Center’s Teach English Study Arabic program.
The workshop provided university students with important job skills such as how to write an effective CV or resume and appropriate cover letters necessary for obtaining good jobs in the future. During the session volunteers also taught them how to best anwer job interview questions. Students would answer a potential job interview question and their peers would discuss the answer providing positive and negative feedback.
Other topics such as body language were covered. Volunteers emphasized the importance of body language during interveiws showing different postures and gestures to demonstrate that they are a strong candidate. These skills helped to build the students’ confidence. Volunteer Jan said “The students were very cool. They were very engaging, they knew a lot, and had really good ideas.”
