Volunteer in Environment and Conservation project in Palestine
At the Excellence Center, we intend to start a new series of volunteer projects designed to teach Palestinian youth about Environment & Conservation. There is a great need for such programs in the West Bank as Hebronites are not usually aware of how much damage they are inflicting to their own lands by throwing so much litter on the streets. Within this program, you will have the possibility to develop your own projects about the issues within this subject that interest you most.
Brief information about the program:
Your project will have its headquarters at Excellence Center’s facilities in Hebron, Palestine. Hebron is West Bank’s biggest city, famous for its local industries and its lively economic sphere. Our Environment Awareness Volunteer in Palestine program a great opportunity to share your knowledge and passion in preserving the environment. For this opportunity, you will create and execute lesson plans for your project, pairing with local and regional organizations to provide your students with an all-encompassing education. Throughout your seminar, you will organize different lectures, workshops, and activities aimed at increasing awareness in Hebron about Palestinians’ effect on the environment, and how they can adjust their lifestyle to make their city a cleaner place.

When you arrive to the Center in Hebron, Palestine:
Before deciding on a schedule, volunteers will be welcomed at the Center and they will be given an orientation week about Hebron and Palestinian culture, which includes both Arabic classes and an introduction to Palestinian culture. In order for you to be as involved as possible in the Palestinian community and culture, we will provide you with accommodation with a Palestinian family who is going to take care of you and will help you with any issue that might come up or at the Excellence Center dorm.
After the introductory week, the volunteers themselves will get to decide what kind of activities they will develop during their stay in Palestine, which will be based one’s individual interests, field of competence, level of experience and skills. We are very flexible, and you will be completely free to choose what activities to implement in your own schedule.
Which kind of activities you can organize during the volunteering period?
There are many activities suitable for all level that we wish to carry out during this program, such as:
- Volunteers with higher qualifications and more experience may organize workshops for local authorities and competent bodies about countries whose recycling systems outstand or similar.
- Raise awareness for Hebron’s community (school and university students as well as community members), which may include talks about the bases of recycling, information about the consequences of excessive packaging and so on.
- Visit some local schools and universities in Hebron and outside to educate them about the above-mentioned issues.
- Organize some free days at the Center to provide some information and consultancies about welfare.
- Fundraising activities for financing local NGOs.
- Connect you to locals by organizing activities for the Palestinian community, such as information stands in the main squares of Hebron.
- Organize guided visits to competent NGOs and to the Environmental Quality Authority (Conservation Ministry).
- Introduce Palestinian youth to college-level studies about environment: this includes presenting them with information about abroad outstanding universities.
- Open lit-picking sessions
Typical day at the Excellence Center
You will work from around 9 am until 5pm, with a lunch break at approximately 12:30, Saturday to Thursday. You will work 30 hours a week. Normally, international volunteers start the day with a breakfast at the Excellence Center together with the whole staff, which includes both teachers, volunteers from other programs and directors. The schedule for this program is highly flexible. Overall, you will have an Arabic class, prepare for the workshops and activities you will do, and do a bit of sightseeing in Hebron. You will generally have your evenings free.
In conclusion, our Environment & Conservation Volunteer program in Palestine is a unique opportunity to get valuable experience in your field of interest –which will certainly make your resume outstand – and to make a major contribution to the Palestinian community.
Since the Excellence Center does not receive any funds from any governmental or non-governmental organizations, the Excellence Center charges a fee of 695$ a month or 230$ a week.
The program fees include: pre-departure support, accommodations, breakfast, full coordination while volunteering in Palestine, 3 hours per week of Arabic lessons for each week you volunteer, and some visits to different sites in the city of Hebron.

You will easily meet many Palestinian university and school students as well as community members with a variety of interests. Especially in Hebron, Palestinian people love to meet new people from different cultures and exchange ideas and experiences.
Moreover, the Excellence Center hosts many international visitors from all over the world who will be studying, volunteering, visiting or interning at center. Of course, you will engage with them in some educational and community activities that the Center organizes.
Everyone at the Excellence Center – Palestinian students, international visitors, and staff – are like one family and there are always activities to do together. Hebron is a good place for international visitors to stay at and offers a great social atmosphere
Eligibility for Volunteer in Environment and Conservation project in Palestine Program
People who are between 18 – 70 years old are eligible to participate in the Technology Volunteer in Palestine Program. All nationalities and majors are welcome! You do not have to have any degree to participate in this program.
When “Volunteer in Environment and Conservation project in Palestine Program” takes place
The Excellence Center is looking for international volunteers year-round. Volunteers decide when they would like to start and Excellence Center organizes so. We are very flexible when it comes to starting and ending dates. Participants freely choose their volunteer period.
Which Airport Should I Start Checking for Flights to Palestine?
The easiest way to get to the Excellence Center in Hebron, Palestine is to fly to Tel Aviv Airport (Israel). It takes about two and half hours from the airport to the Excellence Center in Hebron via shared Taxi.
You can also fly to Amman, Jordan and then cross to Palestine, but it takes more time and is more expensive.
Visa to Palestine
Upon your arrival at Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv Airport), Israel, you will be granted a tourist visa valid for 90 days. There is no need to obtain a visa ahead of time.
