On Monday March 9th Excellence Center teaching assistant Luke Mercurio hosted another Intermediate English class for around ten students, focusing the day’s lesson on the subject of police and emergency services. The class began with a presentation from student Shorouq Wajeeh Almohtaseb, who choose to educate the class about the “Crazy Foam Experiment”, a chemistry quirk involving hydrogen peroxide, yeast, and water.
The presentation was succinct and included an excellence video demonstrating the experiment firsthand. After the presentation students took time to respond in groups to a number of writing prompts before discussing the topics as a class. Then they worked to identify important vocabulary relating to emergency services, before completing a worksheet on injury and illness. Overall it was a very busy and interesting class!
