On Saturday November 14th was “food day” in the Intermediate 1 class. Jan from Belgium and Monica from the United States, whotaught the class, had requested students in the previous meeting to bring food to class. In total 10 students brought food with them, some of it home cooked, some of it purchased.
To begin the class, Jan reviewed basic cooking vocabulary in English with the students, such as verbs and words for different ingredients. The students who had brought food were then asked to describe the recipes they had used and how to prepare what they had made. Then Jan showed a presentation about some typical dishes of Belgium and discussed with the students the process for making them. To close the class the students and teachers shared the food that they had brought.
